World Environment Day is the United Nations day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment.
June 5 has been designated by the United Nations. It is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations (UN) stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action. World Environment Day promotes ways to improve the Earth's environment, such as conserving forests.
First held in 1974, the event has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100 countries.
Every year there’s a theme for world environment day given by a country hosting the day.
Last year, the theme of World Environment 2020 was 'Time for Nature'. The theme for World Environment Day 2021 is 'Ecosystem Restoration'. Ecosystem Restoration is the Key to Revive Our Degraded Planet and will be hosted by Pakistan.
The theme ‘Ecosystem Restoration’ can be achieved through many forms like by Growing Trees, Greening Cities, Reviving Gardens, Adopting Eco- Friendly Diets or Cleaning Up Rivers and Coasts.
This is the generation that can make peace with nature.
